I took a break.
From almost everything.
When you’re in the middle of a dream you wanted to pursue, at first you are all in. Full of optimism, and enthusiasm.
And then you step out into the world, only to get halted by different obstacles as part of your journey.
Family. Basic daily necessities. The never-ending list of to-dos. The lack of time and resources. Emotional struggles. And sometimes, mental anxiety even adds up to your daily survival.
It is never an option to say that everything should go or get dropped in order to focus on what needs to get done. Sometimes, you just need to take a step back and reassess what your priorities are before things get a little too complicated.
When pause and take a break, you will be surprised how close you still are to your actual goal, or maybe your goal has slightly changed in alignment with your current situation. Or, find out how far you have deviated from your original goal because you have realized you are chasing the wrong one. If that’s the case, you can just scratch it out and plan for a different goal altogether.
All of these are valid; and, though sometimes not sensible, still definitely acceptable.
When you take a break, you are able to unravel inner thoughts and feelings, and figure out what made you question yourself and your choices.
How are you feeling, why are you feeling this way? Can you pinpoint why are you feeling elation, impatience, or discontent? Is there a pain point you want to deal with head-on, or can it wait?
Acknowledging the existence of these feelings is not a sign of weakness. The process enables you to step out and look through it with understanding eyes. It helps you gain more traction and better action for the next steps towards your goal.
After all, taking a break doesn’t mean you’re giving up. And accepting that you need to take a break is a good place to start.
I hope you find your chance to do a meaningful pause today.
