How I chose to become a Blogger

The idea to become a blogger initially sparked on me as an opportunity to share my experience as a Filipina living abroad, with no friends or immediate family, and trying to adjust as fast as I could to life here in the U.S. And the possibility of gaining monetary benefit in the process does not sound bad, either.

My family and friends from childhood know that I have a stash of journals/diaries growing up. Yes, I used to write down everything. No, I don’t have them with me right now, and I’m sure no one would bother reading my life story just yet.

13 years have approximately passed since I started slowing down on my writing. I thought I’d be able to keep the pace forever, but certainly, life happens, and when it does, you just live it and eventually give up the time to re-tell it.

So I did sign up for this blogging class (yes, there is a course for blogging, would you know) about two years ago, with the hopes that in a year or so I’ll be able to reap the rewards of midnight typing of stories and editing videos. Or popular folks will start contacting me to show up as a guest in their own blog or YouTube channel. But a year has passed, timelines didn’t match… And sudden health issues put everything to a halt.

I have no shame in telling that I am still in square one. And to be completely honest, I don’t know how this will pan out.

As I’m typing away in my newfound “blog time”, I am blessed to realize that money doesn’t really fuel my passion in sharing something. Because if it is, I might be in another place right now. I am not saying that money is not important because it certainly is, but not the only thing in your life that matters. There’s family, health, relationships, other opportunities that made me decide that this can take the backburner for that period. Looking back I would say I might have a little bit of regret, but not a lot, since the more important factors of my life have been given attention during that time.

So here I am, showing up, trying it again.

Amazingly, the class I signed up for is still open. The course basically gives you all the information they learned throughout the years in a very informative manner. The mentors are quite amazing and know the leaps and depths of how any blogger, no matter what medium or audience, can be successful.

Nothing is really fast-tracked in any kind of business, and blogging is no different. The time and amount of work might be unimaginable but hey the same thing with life, right. You just have to take that shot.

I don’t intend to necessarily put out my life’s journal (kinda boring if you put it that way), but I look forward to learning and share some real information on how this works.
